Long ago in ancient China, a war erupted between Heaven, the realm of Gods, and the feared tyrant, Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. He posed a threat to the Jade Emperor, the first God.
Betrayed by an empty title, “Protector of the Horses,” Sun Wukong's anger knew no bounds. The Gods, who had bestowed this empty honor, now sought to tame him.
A great celebration was thrown after now that peace has been restored. Everyone has gathered around to feast and dance in the public center.
No one could stop Sun Wukong and soon the Jade Emperor would be overthrown. All was hopeless, until the great Buddha himself trapped the monkey king under a mountain for hundreds of years.
Come watch the full reenactment of Sun Wukong’s demise on stage at the Xha Theater. It will be presented in the classical form of opera and all music will be played on traditional instruments of the time.
